Thanks! If you’ve ever expressed your disappointment with me, pointed out my weaknesses and flaws, or called attention to my mistakes and failures, thank you! No, really. Thank you. I can’t say that I enjoyed the experience. I may not be able to agree with what you said. But I can appreciate the value of hearing your criticism. (At the very least, it gives me and God something to talk about!) Truth be told, I actually find it quite difficult to listen to criticism—particularly when it’s inaccurate, ill-informed, unfair or delivered with harsh words and hot-tempered emotion. That’s hard for you, too, isn’t it? But God has been teaching me that no matter how painful it may be to hear it, criticism is always an opportunity—an opportunity to love and an opportunity to learn. So, this week I’ll be sharing what God has been teaching me about listening to criticism. But, please… feel free to disapprove.
