Jeff Jones’ Pick: Fermi Project Podcast This Podcast (called the Q Podcast) gives listeners a behind-the-scene experience with thoughtful leaders on the topics of Culture, Future, the Church, and the Gospel. Gabe Lyons and Andy Crouch host these concise informative 20 minute conversations about the opportunity for the church to once again play a role in shaping culture. The Fermi Project sponsored a project that lead to the popular book unChristian, which details the six biggest objections that the world has with those that call themselves Christians. Nates Carter’s Pick: Resurrection Letters, Vol. 2 CD by Andrew Peterson In my mind, Andrew Peterson is one of the best lyricists in contemporary Christian music. This album is primarily intended to be an Easter album. Take a listen to how Peterson works the theme of redemption into the story of Jesus and the larger story of humanity. Unfortunately, Peterson’s voice leaves a bit to be desired, but if you can get past that to the lyrics, melody, and instrumentation, you’re in for a treat.

Broc Jahnke’s Pick: The Divine Commodity by Skye Jethani. Jethani examines modern Christianity through the lenses of consumerism and the artwork of Vincent van Gogh. His basic premise is that culture largely shapes our view of what the church should be like, and since we are such a consumer driven society the values of the church are now shaped through entertainment and a shopping mall type of mentality. This book will open your eyes to the ways consumerism has shaped you and how unfortunately it shapes a lot of decisions the church makes. His thoughts are neatly tied in through the stories told through van Gogh’s paintings - so when you’re done reading you can be a pseudo van Gogh expert.
