Our church’s mission is Helping People Find and Follow Jesus. At Fellowship Bible Church Arapaho, we carry out that mission through four core commitments:
A commitment to creatively honor God in art, word, thought, and action.
Our mission is to help people find Jesus and follow Jesus. The ultimate object of our mission, then, is to honor Jesus, the Son of God, that is, God himself. The focus of the whole church is to bring Jesus glory, honor, pleasure, and praise. The purpose of our ministry is to bring people into relationship with Jesus and to help them become like Jesus as they develop his character in their own lives.
A commitment to authentic relationships with Jesus Christ and with his followers in a local church.
"Finding" Jesus means discovering Jesus and building a relationship with him. This automatically brings one into relationship with other believers who make up the "body" of Jesus Christ. The word "fellowship" refers to what we "share in common." The most important thing we share in common is our relationship to Christ. We are all brothers and sisters to each other. God intends for us to pursue our relationship with Him in the context of our relationships with each other in the local church.
A commitment to spiritual growth through transparency, accountability, Bible study, and spiritual disciplines.
It is not enough to merely find Jesus. We are also meant to follow him. This means becoming his disciple, learning from his teaching, adopting his character traits as our own, and committing ourselves to obey his instructions. This means discovering and developing the abilities he has given us in order to serve others in the church and to bring others into the church. Discipleship prepares us for ministry.
A commitment to use our resources (time, treasure, and talents) to help others discover a relationship with Jesus and grow spiritually. Ministry is both within the church and beyond the church, not as two mutually exclusive categories, but as an integrated whole.
Our mission is "helping people find and follow Jesus." Discipleship prepares us to help people by meeting their needs. Our goal in helping people is twofold. Helping others find Jesus involves outreach, missions, and evangelism — bringing people into fellowship with Jesus. Helping others follow Jesus involves serving and training others — strengthening people in their relationship with Jesus and preparing them to serve others.
The primary goal of ministry is to bring people into a growing relationship with Jesus and with us.
We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. — 1 John 1:3
Relationships form the context for spiritual growth.
We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well. — 1 Thessalonians 2:8
Growth prepares people to serve and reach others.
He gave…pastors and teachers to prepare God’s people for works of service… The whole body…grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. — Ephesians 4:11-12, 16
Our aim in all things is to bring glory and honor to Jesus Christ.
His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known. — Ephesians 3:10
